The Council is looking for highly organized and self-motivated professionals to serve in the following positions:
Job Title: Archivist (1 post), Ref: NCLR/ HR /2012/ 07
KLR Grade: KLR 9
Reporting to: Assistant Librarian
Department: Research and Department
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will include recording book titles into database; cataloging library material, typing from drafts; and operating other related machines.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:
- Be in possession of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education
- Be in possession of a Certificate in Archives & Records Management or equivalent
- Have modern computer application skills including package on database management.

KLR Grade: KLR 9
Reporting to: Assistant HR Officer
Department: Human Resources and Administration Department
This is the entry level to this cadre.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Driving
- Identifying and reporting abnormal operations of the vehicle
- Carrying out minor mechanical repair
- Ensuring security of the vehicle on and off the road
- Ensuring safety of passengers and/or goods therein
- Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicles assigned to him/her.
- Duties of receptionist when called upon.
- Filing, photocopying, scanning
- Running errands
- Any other duties assigned
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Previous driving experience of at least 3 years;
- Work experience in a busy office
- Be in possession of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education;
- Passed the Kenya Government Occupational Trade Test Grade I;
- Current driving license free from any endorsement; and
- Shown competence in driving and identification and repair of minor faults.

Reporting to: Law Reporter
Department: Laws of Kenya Department
Duties and Responsibilities
- Proof reading of the Laws of Kenya
- Conducting background verification on statutes and other documents in accordance with the KLR Proofreading Manual
- Any such other duties as may be prescribed from time to time.
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- A diploma in Law with a minimum of three (3) years relevant experience; and
- Modern computer application skills.

Reporting to: Law Reporter
Department: Editorial Department
Duties and Responsibilities
- Proof reading of the judicial opinions converted into electronic documents and conducting background verification.
- Conducting background verification of cited statutes, case law and other reference material in accordance with the KLR Proofreading Manual,
- Any such other duties as may be prescribed from time to time.

- A diploma in Law with a minimum of three (3) years relevant experience; and
- Modern computer application skills.

Department: Editorial Department
Duties and Responsibilities
- Recording dictation in shorthand and transcribing it into type written form;
- Typing from drafts or recording from dictation machines
- Operating other related machines.
- Experience in use of publishing software such as Adobe and Indesign.

- Be in possession of at least the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education
- Be in possession of the following professional qualifications from the Kenya National Examination Council or a diploma in social sciences

JOB Grade: KLR 6
Reporting to: Program Officer
Department: Strategy, Quality Control and Performance Department
Under the direction of the Program Officer, the Assistant Program Officer will coordinate, implement, monitor, evaluate and supervise the Council’s Projects in liaison with development partners and Government agencies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provision of technical and logistic support to NCLR in coordination, implementation, monitoring and supervision of the Council’s projects;
- Facilitation of regular monitoring, supervision and continuous internal evaluation of project activities;
- Liaison with the Government and development partners to ensure timely submission of work plans, budgets, reports and other relevant documents, release of project funds and effective implementation of the project activities;
- Lead efforts for the mobilization of additional resources for the project;
- To submit periodic implementation reports on activities implemented under the project grant;
- - Assist in preparation of regular project financial and administrative reports, including the preparation of documentation for development partner reports and
- Information gathering, typing, editing and formatting text, tables and graphics.
For appointment to this grade, an officer must:
- At least 2 years relevant experience
- Hold Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Public Relations or an equivalent qualification;
- Experience in strategic planning, logistics and resource mobilization;
- Excellent organizational, communication, negotiation skills and attention to detail;
- Knowledge and experience of Program Cycle Management processes;
- Computer literate;

Duties and Responsibilities
- Design technology solutions.
- Prepare, test and issue system releases.
- Plan delivery of technology solutions.
- Monitor impact of system releases (Systems Deployed).
- Train, Develop & Support Users
- Manage the NCLR Website
For appointment to this grade, an officer must:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer/Information Sciences, Engineering or related discipline.
