Thika Power Ltd Seeking: Operation & Maintenance Staff for 87MW DCC Power Plant
Thika Power Ltd. hereby officially invites candidates to submit their application and CV for the vacant positions in the O&M department as mentioned below.
The facility is currently under construction but will completed and ready for commercial operation by mid 2013.
Thika Power is looking for candidates having a broad experience from diesel power plant, the marine industry or from other similar heavy industries.

Operation Planner
· Mechanical Engineer (BSc University)
· Minimum 10 years experience in the operations department of a diesel power plants or similar heavy industry.
· Well knowledgeable in working and communication with KPLC dispatch office
· Advanced user knowledge of ERP systems or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Senior Shift Supervisor
· Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer (BSc University)
· Minimum 5 years experience in operation of diesel power plants with HFO fired diesel engines above 10MW
· Experience in DCC operation.
· Good knowledge of LV and MV switch gear, grid system operation and electrical auxiliary operation including PLC systems (KPLC Switching Certificate)
· Advanced level computer knowledge
Shift Technician
· Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer (BSc or Higher National Diploma)
· Minimum 4 years experience in operation of diesel power plants operation with HFO fired diesel engines or other heavy industry.
· Good knowledge of LV and MV switch gear, grid system operation and electrical auxiliary operation including PLC systems
· User level computer knowledge
Junior Shift Technician
· Technician Mechanical or Electrical (Higher National Diploma)
· Experience in operation of diesel power plant operation with HFO fired diesel engines or other heavy industry.
· User level computer knowledge
Boiler Engineer
· Technician Mechanical or Electrical (Higher National Diploma)
· Minimum 4-5 years experience with medium pressure boiler operation and maintenance.
· Experience in steam turbine operation and maintenance.
Steam System Engineer
· Mechanical Engineer (MSc or BSc University)
· Minimum 6-7 years experience with boiler operation and maintenance in a (geo) thermal power plant.
· Extensive knowledge of steam turbine operation and maintenance.
· Advanced user level in computer
Lab Technician
· Degree in Analytical Chemistry (Higher National Diploma) or similar
· Experience in analysis of water, steam, condensate, lubricants and fuel oils
· Experience in analytical laboratory of geo(thermal) power plants, refineries or chemical industry
· User level computer knowledge
QHSE- Engineer
· Mechanical or Chemical Engineer (BSc University or Higher National Diploma) or Degree in Environmental Science (BSc University or Higher National Diploma)
· Experience in QSHE department of (geo)thermal power plants, refineries, chemical industry or similar heavy industry
· Experience of working in a multinational company preferred
· User level computer knowledge
Maintenance Planner
· Mechanical Engineer (BSc University)
· Minimum 10 years experience in maintenance department of diesel power plants or similar heavy industry
· Hands-on experience in maintenance of HFO fire diesel engines including auxiliary equipment
· Advanced user knowledge of ERP systems or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Mechanical Engineer
· Mechanical Engineer (BSc University or Higher National Diploma)
· Minimum 5 years experience in maintenance department of diesel power plants or similar heavy industry
· Hands-on as a team leader.
· Good knowledge of ERP systems or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Engine Mechanics
· Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Higher National Diploma or Diploma)
· Hands-on experience of overhauling heavy-fuel oil fired diesel engines and associated auxiliaries.
Senior Electrical Engineer
· Electrical Engineer (BSc University) or Higher National Diploma
· Minimum experience of 10 years as Electrical Engineer in a diesel power plant or similar heavy industry
· Good knowledge of ERP systems or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
· Good experience in trouble shooting techniques and methods.
· Sound understanding of mechanical equipment and processes
· Good and firm knowledge in the protection equipment required for power generation and transmission.
· Advanced user level computer knowledge
Electricians
· Electrical Engineer (Higher National Diploma)
· Minimum 5 years experience from a diesel power plant or other similar heavy industry.
· Hands on experience of trouble shooting of control systems, low and medium voltage systems including generators and auxiliary systems.
· User level computer knowledge
· Good knowledge of ERP systems or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Instrument & Control Engineer
· Electrical Engineer (BSc University or Higher National Diploma)
· Minimum experience of 5 years as I&C engineer
· Knowledge of diesel power plant
· Knowledge of mechanical equipment and processes
· Strong hands-on experience in trouble shooting and instrument calibration
· Strong experience in PLC and DCS systems.
· Good knowledge of ERP systems or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Accountant
· MBA Finance (University) or MSc in Management (University)
· Minimum 5 years experience working as an accountant within a multinational company
· Experienced in setting-up company infrastructure from base
· Well versed in Kenyan tax law
· Experienced in ERP system
Purchaser
· Degree in Logistics Management or Procurement (BSc University or Higher National Diploma)
· Minimum 5 years experience working as purchaser in a multinational company
· Advanced user knowledge of ERP systems or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Team Assistant
· Degree in Human Resource Management (BSc University) or MSc/BSc of Arts
· Experience of working within a multinational company
· Well versed in Kenyan labor law
· Experienced in ERP system
Fuel Decanter and Helper
· Secondary Education (KCSE)
· Experience of working in maintenance department of diesel power plants or similar heavy industry is preferred

Am a young motivated man who believes in team work for excellence . hard working and full of ideas on how to make things look advanced than they will be at the moment.If given a chance,i believe i can do more.
