Internship is a very important step into your dream career because it soups up your CV in a way you will never imagine. During and after holidays, trying to get an internship in a company should be a priority of a college student. Have you ever stopped to think that there are things to avoid during internship? Well, as much as internship should give you a chance to experience the real corporate world, make sure it also gives you a chance to get connections that can help you get a job once you start the hunt.
While at internship, most interns will hit a few bumps in the road. But others seem to have a penchant to crash and burn. If you want a little bit of experience with the mind of an HR manager, always ask for feed back after an internship. Managers can decide to hire you or not after an internship.
Here is what to avoid:

1.   Drinking while interning: Interns in most cases are young guys with swagger and this being the era of generation Y, they will booze in front of managers especially during parties once they are bored. They will even play drinking games in front of guests. To their dismay, the following day, they will be told that they talked a lot of rubbish to managers and even abused them. Be careful.
2.   Deflate your ego: This is not the time to show people how bright you are. Manners are very important and therefore be humble and down to earth as much as possible.
3.   Work time isn’t naptime: Interns can routinely take group siestas. They turn the lights off, close the door, and put their heads down-even in their windowed office. If you ask them, they will admit that they are bored and they opted to nap instead of bettering their situation!
4.   Show skills, not skin: Several interns dress like they are at a nightclub. Be careful with what you wear because it shows who you are. Rather than concentrating on your clothing, why don’t you enhance your skills?
5.   Let the adults talk: Do not use baby talk to speak to people in the office. It can easily grate on the ears of everyone around the office. You may think that it is cute, but cute doesn’t belong in an office. Watch your tongue.
6.   Say it to my face: When you have a problem with an employee, sya it or talk to senior guys because it may help. Do not complain to other authorities that won’t have any effect on your complaints or do not wait until the last day to say it during your exit interview.
If you are going out on an internship, try to be as professional as possible and behave like you were in a real job environment.
